Timothy Varner of 48 Minutes of Hell: "When the dust settles, Kobe Bryant will have played the majority of his career between two definitive eras. Between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. I suspect Kobe Bryant will be remembered as the best player of his era, but careful historians with caution against a quick response to the question. Kobe is not alone. Tim Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal stand alongside him as the defining players of the post-Jordan/pre-Lebron parenthetical.  All three players have won 4 championships. Their accomplishments surpass Hall of Fame talk. They walk where Kobe walks. But here's where it gets fun. LeBron James and Dwight Howard are pounding on the gate, but they've not yet stormed the castle. There is still time for Kobe, Duncan and Shaq to break the tie that exists between them. It's early to say this, but the 2009-10 season will feature 5 legitimate contenders: the Lakers, Spurs, Cavs, Magic, and Celtics. The Nuggets and Blazers could get there, but are still wait and see. Three of the five surefire contenders feature Shaq, Duncan or Kobe. The stage is set for a proper send off. It's not too late to arrive at a definitive answer to the question of who claimed majority ownership of this decade."

We were so close last night...I was sure that the Wolves were going to take Curry with the 5th or 6th pick but when they didn't, I was pumped.....and then Golden State ripped our hearts out. I haven't seen a whole lot of Jordan Hill but from what I have seen, he could develop into a contributor in our system but it seems like it'll take time and he'll likely end up a role player. He's insurance for David Lee's departure for this season, I guess. Don't get me wrong, he could put up some good numbers this season by virtue of D'Antoni's system and the thinness of our frontcourt but I'm thinking about the 2010-2011 season and beyond.

But I think Curry has the chance to be something special, especially in the D'Antoni system and especially if you have a superstar or two (like we hope NY will get in free agency next year). Worst part about all of this is that it was a mutual desire on all parts to have him land here in NY.

Off-chance that the Wolves are forced to trade Rubio because he threatens to go back to Italy because the Wolves were dumbasses and thought they could start a 5'11" PG at SG? Maybe 1000:1 but here're fingers crossed that the Wolves are dumb enough to do something like a sign and trade for Nate and have the smallest backcourt in history.

Quote of the day goes to Kevin Love via Twitter after seeing the Wolves management drafted 3 point guards with their first 3 picks: "What are we doing????? We better trade. I don't even know"

RE: the VC trade: I don't understand why everyone's saying this is such a great trade. They made this move because they're not going to be able to re-sign Hedo because they don't want to pay him what he wants. So basically they're losing Hedo to FA and their starting 2, Courtney Lee, in the trade. They're getting VC back but you really can't judge if this is a good move until you find out who/how they get someone to replace the 2 or 3 vacancy they now have open. If they backfill with Pietrus at that position, they're risking maybe being as good as they were last year while shortening their bench since Lee started over Pietrus in his rookie year and Hedo and VC being comparable talents at this point in their careers.

We'll see. They're still going to be a really good team but I'm just not totally convinced that they made the best move yet since they had a team that just went to the finals with a rusty, partially injured All-Star point guard.

Alright, so it's been a hot minute. Or years. Whatever.

All-star weekend was over-hyped as usual but Shaq was one guy that did not disappoint. Check it if you haven't already.

What the 2nd clip doesn't show is a closeup of Dwight jawing with Shaq when the pass happens. I kind of feel bad for Dwight. This weekend was supposed to be a highlight of his first year of superstardom but instead he's on the wrong end of one of the biggest highlights of Sunday night and Nate's best dunk from the SDC was Nate laying his nuts on the back of Dwight's head
